Crown Buick GMC to Sponsor 2013 Tampa Bay Strongman Classic to Support Local Veterans' Organization

Crown Automotive Group today announced a partnership between the Roman & Roman 2013 Tampa Bay Strongman Classic and Crown Buick GMC. The event will take place on July 13 at 3:00 PM in Pinellas County, Florida.

ST. PETERSBURG, FLORIDA St. Petersburg, FL (PRWEB) June 25, 2013 -- Crown Automotive Group today announced a partnership between the Roman & Roman 2013 Tampa Bay Strongman Classic and Crown Buick GMC. The event will take place on July 13 at 3:00 PM in Pinellas County, Florida. Proceeds from the event will benefit Sand Soldiers of America.

Last year’s event, which included a Strongman show, figure model contest, corn toss tournament and much more, attracted 42 athletes, six figure competitors and over 3,000 fans in the audience. This year’s show will once again take place at Quaker Steak & Lube, located in Pinellas Park.

Strongman is an up and coming sport in North America, with ESPN’s airing of “The World’s Strongest Man” increasing its popularity in recent years. Most athletes are amateur lifters who train several hours a week for the simple glory of knowing they are some of the strongest men and women in the country.

While the show is always entertaining, the purpose of promoting this event is not just to discover who is the strongest man or woman. “When Donnie and I first began planning this show, we decided that we didn’t want to personally profit from it,” said Tom Roman, senior attorney with Roman & Roman, P.A. “We wanted to give back to our community in some fashion. [Donnie] had just returned from a tour in Iraq with his Army Reserve unit and we thought giving back to veterans was the right thing to do.”

Crown Buick GMC is sponsoring the event and providing the vehicles for the car deadlift competition. A majority of the proceeds from the show will benefit the Sand Soldiers of America, a Pasco County non-profit organization, founded by former Sherriff Bob White and other local businessmen. Last year, the show raised over $2,100 for the charity, which helps local veterans with needs of almost any kind. Several communitybased businesses have also agreed to join forces with the event, affording a larger exposure to the cause of strongmen and women supporting the returning war veterans.

The Roman & Roman 2013 Tampa Bay Strongman Classic takes place on Saturday, July 13 at 3:00 PM at Pinellas Park Quaker Steak & Lube. The cost of entry is free, but a donation to the Sand Soldiers of America is suggested. For more information or if you want to help them reach their goal, visit www.tampabaystrongmanclassic.com.
